This book was published in 1904 (so is public domain,) and is a great source of design info. It gets into normal hull design but also sail design. It has close to enough info to build this gaff rigged cutter in the back - well, not enough details to match a modern design, but plenty to form the traditional shape and sail plan using traditional methods. That's enough for many builders back them to build excellent, and circumnavigating hulls in the days of wooden ships and iron men.
Download it if you have some desire to design your own boat. It's traditional and simple enough to do these yourself, but you do have to know some math to follow these methods - and they are manual.

Fredrico P. Just sent me these pictures of his homebuilt 11' Champlain skiff. He says the weather is holding him back, but it should be clearing up soon and promises pictures when it's launched.

Eric Stremmel just completed this Tillamook Pacific Power Dory. He sent me this e-mail and pictures yesterday:
Hi Jeff,
I wanted to send you pictures of my Tillamook. The frame is Douglas fir and white oak with half inch meranti plywood over it. Clothed , epoxied, and painted with Brightsides. Used the roll and tip method and was amazed with how smooth it came out . People think it is fiberglass. All exposed wood is white oak epoxied and varnished. It really gets up and goes with a 50 hp on it. The ride is smooth and dry. Could not possibly be happier with the way it turned out.
Thank you!
Eric

Please don't be embarrassed to send in photos of your projects. I get a lot of emails from people who tell me about their build but never send any pictures. I'd love to see them, as would all of the other people who are either building a boat or thinking about it. They need all the encouragement they can get.
I believe in offering you all the information you need to learn more about how to build a boat. That's why I offer free videos, free ebooks, and free reports. There's even some free plans available to isiders and some seminars I've delivered. To join, just click below:
